There’s Racing, and Then There’s Racing Rockets You Ride
I remember Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. They had a minor hit with a cover version of Hot Rod Lincoln. I can still recite the lyrics:
Now the boys all thought I’d lost my sense,
them telephone poles looked like a picket fence.
They said “slow down, I see spots,”
the lines on the road just looked like dots.
Well, you couldn’t come up with a better description of this video of the Cookstown Road Races in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland.
It’s an approximately 2-mile loop of regular streets in Cookstown, the fourth-largest town in County Tyrone.
The video is so much more than just a proctologist’s-view recording of Andy Farrell. The video show the road ahead, the riders jostling behind Andy, and the blurry spectators. Watching the speedometer while you’re riding in real time on the motorcycle is astonishing. These dudes are taking sharp corners on motorcycles at over 100 per. That’s insane.
I’m not sure how to explain all the blurry spectators. I’ve never been to Ulster. For all I know, everyone’s born blurry there.

Hi Smitty- Thanks for reading the BSBFB, and for leaving a comment. Great video.
Here’s the same track (Red Bud, Michigan) but with the pro’s hitting the same jumps higher and with lots more speed:
