That sound.
Well, it’s not just a sound. If you’re in the grandstands or the infield, close to the track, the sound is mixed with a palpable vibration and a whoosh of air being pushed aside. It’s great to see the cars from a ground level, too, like in this video.
If you’re way up in the grandstand, you can see the whole track better, but you really don’t get the feeling of speed you get when you’re up against the barrier. The cars are going insanely fast, and they look like they’re floating an inch or two above the pavement, instead of rolling like we mere mortals do in our daily drivers.
Of course, the car’s a Ferrari. They hire a piano tuner to get the exhaust note just right.
