Reader Smitty liked our motorcycle racing video from Monday. He thought road racing was fun and all, but suggested something with a little more air involved. Holy cow these dudes are flyin’, speed-wise and jump-wise.
I’m relatively sure that you’re not supposed to ride a motorcycle off of a ski jump, but I’m no science-tician, so I really couldn’t tell you.
To my knowledge, it’s simply something you’re not supposed to do. It’s not on the same level as kicking the elderly or setting fire to an orphanage, but that doesn’t mean an angry mob won’t descend on your house if they catch wind of your ski jump tomfoolery. They’ll be armed with petitions instead of pitchforks, and they’ll politely ask you to stop instead of riding you out of town on a rail, but the threat is just as real.
I like Cam Zink. He seems like an alright guy and he’s got a pretty solid job. He gets to ride his bike around to his heart’s content, go off a sweet ramp, get like, three feet of air, and then go home with his wife and kid. If he gets over three feet of air Monster Energy sends a dump-truck full of money to his front door. That sounds like a pretty good day at work.
If he ever decides to quit the business, I think he gets to keep all of his fancy branded shirts and grippy gloves.

Man, his mom’s gonna be pissed. I’m sure there used to be a nice patch of something right where he’s riding. It took her years to grow that crabgrass; nevertheless, our Portuguese-spewing friends have the right idea. Horticulture can’t hold a candle to 150cc of rope swinging action.
Dressed in his finest gym shorts and flip flops the newest honorary borderline sociopath soldiers on in the fight against gravity. The only way he could get any cooler is if his pornstache was also riding a dirt bike.
