  2. In times past, that path was very dangerous, due to robbers and muggers. Tourists were advised to take the tramway to the summit. I worked with a Colombian in Argentina who told me of getting his Rolex robbed on Monserrate, in addition to getting assaulted. I forget if he took the path or the tramway.

    A generation ago, Bogotá was considered much more dangerous than Caracas. Today, it is the reverse.
