Not to gain say you my friend, but the subject of the origin of the Marine Corps Hymn has been, and still is in some quarters, subject to debate. The mystery of the lyrics author in addition to the claim that the Hymn is similar to, but not exact to, the Gendarmes’ Duet. It may in fact be a Spanish folk song adapted to modern brass instruments and tempo change.
