As someone who has belayed hundreds of kids at rock walls, I found that if they start under ten years of age, they are naturals. After that, they somehow realize, “hey, this is nuts!”
One time, in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, I watched an over ten kid approach the bronze cow, scratch his head, and try to climb on board. Failed. Then, his younger sib walked up, grabbed the tail, countered the hind leg with his foot, and swung on top. No problem.
