A Ride in a 1956 Jag You Er

A Ride in a 1956 Jag You Er

Le Mans is one of those races that people who have never seen an auto race know about. It’s been immortalized in a bunch of movies. It’s always nifty to see the cars pass through the Dunlop rubber rainbow, and dodge the regular traffic and bicycles on the road on a non-race day. Driver Mike Hawthorne strapped on about a hundred pounds of microphone to give us some idea of what it’s like to buzz around the track. Fantastic

Gotta Go At A Reasonable Pace

Gotta Go At A Reasonable Pace

I guess he didn’t get the memo. You’ve got to look out for those pesky right turns. Personally though, I don’t trust right turns in the slightest. It’s like playing the guitar left handed, or wearing plaids with stripes. It’s all the Devil’s handiwork and should be shunned.

Left turns on the other hand, show a sense of civic duty and kindness. If left turns were a person I’d invite them over to look after my small children. Left turns would take out the garbage and do the dishes when mother asks him to. Left turns would listen to soft rock and help old ladies across the street.

Looking back though, I think I’d much rather hang out with right turns. Left turns seems like kind of a wuss.

Never Give Up, Never Surrender

Never Give Up, Never Surrender

I like to think that if you try as hard as you can and do your best anything is possible. Sometimes your best isn’t good enough. Sometimes your best puts you ten feet up a tree after flipping your car off an embankment, but your best is what gets you back on the road. Any other rally car drivers would have thrown up their hands and said, “Welp, I guess the race is over.” I really wouldn’t have blamed them. I would have done the exact same thing.

Something is different with these two fellows. They weren’t going to let the race get away from them under any circumstances. I swear, if they couldn’t start their car they would have pushed it across the finish line. They performed beyond the call of duty and deserve a medal of some sort. I don’t have any medals on hand, but if I did I’d cover them head to toe in respectable bling. They’d make a very satisfying clinking sound when they walk and that would make it all worth it.

Missed It By That Much

Missed It By That Much

Something seems off about this video. I just can’t put my finger on it. He’s got the speed down. The wheels seem to be spinning in the correct direction. The rain doesn’t seem to be affecting him, so that can’t be it. He starts mowing the grass about halfway through, but it’s likely that he needs a side gig and does landscaping in his off hours.

I’ve got it! He keeps making right turns. What a weirdo. Everyone knows racetracks only have left turns.
