World’s Only Cool Bicycle Helmet
Jonathan Summerfield built a “pennyfarthing,” a version of the first bicycles. They called it a pennyfarthing because the big wheel in the front with a much smaller trailing wheel looked like a British penny next to a British farthing coin. Like so, from Wikipedia:
Between 2006 and 2008, Jonathan cycled 22,000 miles on his machine, visiting 22 countries along the way. He has a profoundly unattractive white-text-on-black-background webpage with lot’s of apostrophe’s here and there that’s fun to poke around in. His running journal summary is kind of a hoot, with Pythonesque “My knees gave out — again,” anecdotes over and over. He never did burn and crash into the swamp, though.
