I’ve seen similar with a straight staircase – and have been severely tempted to come up with a way to create something like this for our stairway. My biggest problem is the short landing area at the bottom of the stairs…

Shows you how old and ruined I am–looked at that four or five times before I saw the most important feature!
Looks a little narrow for a 70-year-old 300+ pound boy.
